Ants
The best solution for successful ant control is to have an ongoing preventative. Our office can provide a quote at no charge to rid your home and yard of Ants.

Fire Ants
Fire Ants thrive in open areas, such as home lawns, sports fields, golf courses, parks, pastures, hay fields, vegetable fields, orchards, and roadsides. When they are not controlled, mound densities can reach 50 to more than 200 Mounds per acre.

Sugar Ants in the House:
These ants are perhaps the most common pest customer’s want to get rid of because of the fact that they do in fact sting, or bite. And while for most of us a bit from a fire ant is merely an aggravation, for some people fire ant bites can be dangerous if they are allergic to them, or if the ants bite in great numbers.

Carpenter Ants:
We have more than a dozen species of carpenter ants in Mississippi, but the black carpenter ant is the most common home-invading species. This is also the largest species of ant found in buildings. Carpenter ants are most active at night. Carpenter ants normally nest outdoors, in trees, logs, and stumps, and these outdoor colonies do not need to be controlled unless they are sending foraging trails indoors.
Bedbugs
Bed bugs are generally small, reddish brown insects that are approximately 5mm in length. They become even redder and swollen straight after they’ve eaten.
Bed bugs feed exclusively on blood. They are extremely resilient insects and have been known to survive up to a year without a meal in cool conditions.
You might wake up in the morning with bites but never see an actual insect — this is because bedbugs are very small and generally active at night when the host is asleep.
Bed bugs tend to be found in cracks and the seams of mattresses, behind furniture and even around pictures frames above your bed and electric outlet plates. Bed bugs can be found in homes but they are native to hotels where they are brought in through people’s’ luggage or personal belongings and can travel from room to room. If you and your family travel a lot your chances of encountering bedbugs is higher.

Cockroaches
Cockroaches are everywhere. There are a variety of ways that cockroach infestations begin based upon the type of cockroach. Many roaches enter homes and buildings from outside. Because each cockroach species is different, the cause for each infestation is different.
Here are some facts about the common cockroaches we find throughout Mississippi:

American cockroaches
American cockroaches are primarily an outdoor species, but males are strongly attracted to light during the night, so they do find their way indoors, they prefer wet, cool habitats, but they live outside, usually only entering buildings through drains and foundations.

German cockroaches
German cockroaches often live indoors around wet, warm areas, such as in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. (They are especially attracted to the warmth of running appliances). German roaches are also usually brought into houses and buildings in moving boxes, appliances and electronics.

Earwigs
Earwigs are mostly nocturnal and often hide in small, moist crevices during the day, and are active at night, feeding on a wide variety of insects and plants. Damage to foliage, flowers, and various crops is commonly blamed on earwigs, especially the common earwig.
Earwigs are sometimes known as pincher bugs because of the forceps-like pinchers which they carry at the rear of their bodies. Only a few of the 2000 species live here in Mississippi, given our climate and the fact that earwigs tend to prefer dark, damp environments. This is why they are usually found in interior and exterior expansion joints, near water fixtures, grass, other watered landscaping and under rocks. A nest of earwigs can also give off an unpleasant odor.

Rats and Mice
Rats are typically distinguished from mice by their size. Generally, when someone discovers a large rodent, its common name includes the term rat, while if it is smaller, the name includes the term mouse.
Mice are small mammals belonging to the order of rodents, characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears, a body-length scaly tail and a high breeding rate. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse.
Primarily nocturnal animals, mice compensate for their poor eyesight with a keen sense of hearing, and rely especially on their sense of smell to locate food and avoid predators.
Rodents often carry diseases, and rats and mice can also cause damage to your home and property. They also chew through wood and electrical wiring, which can expose the wire and increase the danger of a house fire. Needless to say, rodents relieve themselves almost everywhere, which in addition to causing a health hazard can create some nasty odors.
We as professionals can perform treatments to eliminate the ones one that got in and to prevent new ones from entering your home.
Spiders
Here in Mississippi, exterminators find themselves dealing primarily with several different spiders.
The black widow can be identified by a red or orange hourglass-shaped marking on its body.
The wolf spider looks a bit scary, but they are harmless. They are lone scavengers and do not spin webs. They are often mistaken for small tarantulas with their larger bodies and fur. They most often feed on other insects and find themselves inside of homes or businesses looking for food and water.
Also you have other household spiders that can enter your home. We as professionals can perform treatments to eliminate the ones one that got in and to prevent new ones from entering your home.
